The mission of the Maine Youth Football League is to implant firmly in the children of the community ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority that participation in the sport of football provides, so that they may become well adjusted, stronger and happier children who grow to be decent, healthy, and trustworthy citizens.
Programs
The MYFL provides football playing opportunities to children from grade 1-6. Our programs include:
- Pee Wee (grades 1-3)
- Junior Varsity (grades 4-5)
- Varsity (grade 6)
Governance
The MYFL is governed by an Executive Board of parents, coaches and interested individuals who make and enforce rules and regulations to govern itself on a local basis. Officers of the Executive Board include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Athletic Coordinator and Trustee. Member organizations assign one representative per team participating in MYFL play. Teams belonging to MYFL are charged with abiding by the rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Directors of MYFL.

Meetings
The MYFL Executive Board meets on the second Wednesday of January, April, June and
August. The January meeting is the annual membership meeting.

The MYFL is comprised of Maine football organizations representing communities geographically located in a region defined by Westbrook to the south, Auburn to the west and Camden to the north. MYFL member communities include:

- Portland
- Rockland
- South Portland
